Really nice display of how Bruce drives away the people who always leave him alone. Tom King’s Bruce is a toxic man. He takes out his frustration on the people he should protect first and holds up his work as Batman as an excuse to allow his behaviour. I can’t find any sympathy for him “losing” Jason again, although I do feel bad for the family members that haven’t cut him off yet. Jason is right that often “the true sacrifice isn't to die for all the innocents of this world, but to pick one and live for them. Whatever the price.”. Our culture does not celebrate this truth enough. Parenting is a sacrifice. I’m so proud of Jason’s strength.
Thank you so much! Yes, for Jason, it was that moment of: I always wanted for someone to put me *first*, and yet, if I cannot do it for myself, who am I to complains that others won't. And that with the memories of the adults who somehow failed him... it was a tough choice but like... he had to make it.
In my head, Jason is always who commits completely. Always. And the moment he chose tiny!Jay he would go all in or not at all. He chose himself and that's what this story was about.
