Comment on Seventh Horcrux

  1. Acromantulas really aren’t that frightening. It wouldn’t have even succeeded in slaying Lockhart if I hadn’t hit him with a tripping jinx at a crucial moment.

Oh my god, was Lockhart actually useful? 😂

    1. Lockhart did pass his NEWTs at some point, which means he was presumably capable of casting a half-assed stunner: that probably wouldn't stun a giant man-eating spider, because Lockhart was useless, but disorienting the acromantula for a few seconds would set it up for the one category of spells he actually did have a talent for: memory charms.

Well, okay, he was also a dab hand at fashion charms, but I while I'm sure there's a spell to tie conjured ribbons around things ("there's a spell for that" is pretty much the summary for HP magic), I don't think he would consider tying the acromantula up with that.

Still, one stunner, one memory charm, the acromantula walks confusely away to eat somebody else, gets killed by a House Elf out to protect the students or something, Lockhart writes a book about it stealing all the credit, the end.

Except for the little snag that was Harrymort.
