Comment on The Phoenix Never Dies

  1. I love, love how every part of this series shows more and more of this world. it's dark, and twisted, but very delicious and I love it. it's great. and I love seeing Slade's POV, seeing how he's handling going from one of the best and greatest shields, to being a gem. we saw a bit of it back in the first story, but seeing more of it, seeing the depth of it from Slade's POV gives just a lot more to the feelings there, because while Apollo can see plenty, knows his gems, he doesn't know their every thought and feeling.

I'm also just excited to see a third part in this series. while Slade may have fucked up, a lot. it's going to be a fun ride to see, I think. poor Jason, but it seems like he's doing so much better at least. also it's interesting to see a lot more about Midnighter. I will say though, that kindness is subjective. while sure, Apollo is going to completely break you apart and reform you, which is it's own cruelty, I definitely think Jason would prefer a master like that than a master like Napier anyday, and would consider that a far greater and kinder master. Jason(I'm assuming) has spent his whole life as a gem, he's gone through 3 different types of masters as a gem compared to what Slade is used to as a shield. Slade's already kinda stated it, with how gems are treated so differently compared to the other slaves, I'm assuming that's also by their masters as well as by others. and that just means that there's going to be a large and different perspective on how Apollo may be viewed with things.

    1. Thank you! so happy you're excited! Yeah, Slade's POV bring a whole new depth that I want to explore. Apollo had a very Master's perspective and Jason's just too traumatized to have too objective a view. Not that Slade is objective--he brings his own bias to how he see things--but is a different perspective that lets me play with this dark, twisted world.

and yes, I hope muses cooperate and we get to know more about Midnighter's backstory in later chapters.

Jason would prefer a master like that than a master like Napier anyday, and would consider that a far greater and kinder master.

Oh, Apollo is the bestest, nicest master in the world compared to Napier. No question. Hell, if you asked Slade who he'd prefer among the two, he'll pick Apollo, too.
