Thank you! I'll do my best. I understand that the whole shards-pushing-aggression is a thing, but I still don't understand why I never see people showing a steady build back from the almost apocalyptic world of earth bet in their fanfictions. Like, you could do so much with this universe, but people neverrrr do. It feels like so much wasted potential. Which- to clarify- Taylor isn't a host. She's just an isekai character lol. So no misplaced aggression for her.
Personally, the shards pushing their hosts I always saw as a massive cop-out, where Wildbow was trying to retroactively justify a lot of stupid things, mostly how every character either was a horrible person, or became one. I think that a minority of shards would hammer the conflict-button, and others might only in extreme cases. I see it as being much more likely for shards to select hosts that match a majority of desired traits already. Its the difference between Sophia being a psychotic bitch naturally, or basically being mind-controlled the whole time. Granted, that excuse could only work for a short time after triggering, learned thought patterns and thought-habits are a thing. It just seems simpler for the shards to basically go shopping for a host that will create conflict by themselves, either by nature or due to environmental circumstances.
