Comment on The royal witch of cold and winter

  1. Elia Martell and Theodred of Rohan

The Vale smallfolk are scared of Caraxes and other dragons seeing their lifestock as free food to take (read, Sheepstealer in canon), as well the risk of the fields being burned by dragon fire and how this sort of lost sheep/cattle/whatever grains in the fields would affect their ability to put food on the table for their families. The nobles are less than impressed with how Daemon acts in public and him calling poor Rhea "bronze bitch" in written letters as well complaining about the whole Vale being boring and there is nothing to do there outside tourneys, would paint him as a spoiled royal brat that almost no one wants to deal with. So with all this consent to the Vale coven to create this barrier, everyone in the Vale can enjoy life without Daemon ruining a fine day

I imagine that while the first witches dealt with the Others, the Wall was built to limit the acress to Westeros for them. It is magical because it did block the Others, and remains standing as long as the Sisterhood still exists. The present-day Night's Watch are basically the customs police between the North and the Free Folk, checking trade, making sure that the local areas are calm, stop criminals from trying to evade justice on both sides of the Wall and prevent smuggling.

The Free Folk coven is part of the wider Northern coven, they are often busy acting as mediators between their tribes and clans, and not everyone may bother to appear in the South because they do not like how the South may have a sterotype of them as barbarians with no sense of culture. But working to keep a peaceful co-existence between the Free Folk and Westeros yes, though as the gang of youngsters in the Umber lands shows, not everyone is making that job easiy or caring for what sort of tension their actions may cause!

Ha, a lot of notherners will join the Umbers and Gael to the royal wedding, yes! Going to be the talk of the year, indeed! Bonus for Otto Hightower feeling that the spotlight on Alicent as the new Queen consort will be dragged away from her!
