    Realism makes a story readable. Have stopped reading some period fics because the language and back grounds were so wrong. And as for obsessive compulsive.......am writing a fic (Cadet Novac) that takes place in 1970's Rochester, NY and at various army posts. Have now got a nice collection of officers club menus from the 60's, 70's and 80's from the US and Germany. A 1977 Montgomery Ward 'wish book', vintage road maps from various states and a phone book from the Panama canal zone cira 1985 because the character is going to be a part of the invasion of Panama. Obsessive? Nah.
