absolutely delighted by this fic and i'm so happy you've revisited it because it has one of the most original takes of Baze and Chirrut's youth. i love how these two prickly teenagers are so irrevocably drawn to each other but it's so intense and novel for both of them that it's terrifying and so they keep circling around each other like kittens all poofed up with their tails straight up but also following each other around like puppies I LOVE IT. they both mesh and clash so well and you can see how they're already completely gone on each other even if they don't even call themselves friends yet; I'm guessing they're a Force Dyad and I adore this exploration of what that would look like, especially with this ship. i'm grateful to you for waking up the baze/chirrut tag, it really makes me want to write again too bc i love their dynamic and this passage in particular:
“So you’re back to his side,” he murmurs, an amused sing-song in his tone that Chirrut finds equally charming and infuriating. “Lead by justice once again.” Before Chirrut can snap back at him, he feels a light tap on his arm. “Justice also seems to have led you away from your post, so maybe you should head to your left instead of following me like a stray.”
He’s not sure if he’s more embarrassed at the insinuation that he followed him again on purpose or at the fact that he had not. “Tonight,” he says stiffly, leaning heavily on his temporary staff. “Meet me to make a plan.”
is SOOOOOOOOO cute! like, Chirrut is so abrasive and Baze is so traumatized but their connection is undeniable and makes them want to understand each other so viscerally. and even tho they're still on shaky ground they're already making each other laugh and hiding out in their own little world and telling each other their darkest histories GAH i could keep going
ALSO! ALSO! i'm greatly enjoying Chirrut having visions of Scarif overlapping with their present, I thought that was very cool. So overall what I'm saying is please keep up the good work because I'm head over heels for this fic!
Ahhh thank you so much!! The image of poofed up kittens is absolutely perfect, that's them. Yes, I was too intrigued by "what if Force dyad" (or more specifically by "what if Force dyad but one person is way more Force adept than the other but also literally blind and totally disoriented by it") to resist. It seems to suit them. I'm so ready to wake this tag up again, writing them is such a comfort zone and it's been really nice to have them back in a sense.
