It's an absolute hot mess for certain. Before it was removed Darkstripe's parents were Willowpelt and Tawnyspots, when Tawnyspots was like. Dying. When Willow was an apprentice, and then there was Willowpelt being paired with her older brother to have Greystripe. And also, since Swiftbreeze and Adderfang having five kits make them a super huge progenitor of most of Thunderclan. The same problem exists with Fuzzypelt and Robinwing because they gave them too many kids (Dustpelt has kids with his own niece because they made him siblings with Brindleface, along with that whole thing with Squirrel and Ash being siblings canonically at some point which made SquirrelAsh Uncle and Niece as well).
Stuff being added to the first series with Bluestar's Prophecy on just makes everything a mess. The story wasn't built for all of these relations and it turned the generic pool into one huge knot while the freshest blood they have now aren't able to have kits thanks to the narrative. There are others I can call out (like Dappletail having kits with Runningwind for literally no reason), but the AdderSwift family is the biggest problem. Can't wait to see your take on Willowpelt's family relations. With the fathers of Darkstripe and Greystripe unknown it can lead to so much interpretation. The only other fic I've really seen about it (sticking with Tawnyspots and Patchpelt) was made in 2011 so I'm just hankering for more.
(So sorry this comment is huuuuge, I couldn't help myself. Since I mentioned Dappletail, she would be a good one as well, especially considering her whole thing with Stormtail… you could make a whole series about how messed up the Thunderclan family tree is.)
honestly!! i read briefly through the post you linked and oh. my. god. i did not realize how many cats are descended from adderswift and robinfuzzy. (it's a good thing longtail never ended up having kits - i think he's closely related to basically everyone in the clan lmao)
dappletail is a good suggestion! i'm starting to make a tentative list, so i'll add her to it!
All the family trees have problems but Thunderclan is unique since we can track most of it. We didn't need certain pairings having so many kits but that's just something to Erins do (Isn't that right, Snowbird?)
