Comment on Sonic X: Gotta Go Fast Again

    The explanations come as the story progresses.

    Tails arrives at the clearing where Cosmo's plant landed (Eggman discovered that the plant emits Chaos energy possibly due to the way it was created and therefore he stole it and injected energy with the emeralds that he gathered again and thus used the plant as a source of energy for its large ship).

    Sonic and the others had gone to Eggman's ship to stop him but during the fight the ship is damaged and falls to ground. Eggman escapes to another larger ship he has in space which was his plan B and this already contained an energy source to use. Sonic stayed in the ship, the others escaped and Tails flew to reach the place where he saw the capsule that contained Cosmo's plant.

    In the place Tails finds a tree whose bark comes out of Cosmo which catches him before she falls to the ground. Cosmo opens her eyes and sees him crying with happiness, telling her very much that he loves her, to which she responds in the same way before falling asleep again.

    At that moment Metal Tails arrives piloting in a transparent cockpit on the chest of a robot (so that you can imagine the design, think of the Decepticon Megatron, although in general what matters about this one is the cannon attached to his arm). Metal Tails is being controlled by Dark Oak. His head was found by Eggman and he connected it to the ship he has in space as a source of energy since after the explosion in the original series, Dark Oak managed to survive and absorb a large amount of energy. (That or think of any other explanation that you prefer) At that point the robot's speakers begin to ring with Eggman's voice. Although the doctor cannot see images of what is happening, he is still able to complain, so he says that he is tired of being bothered and orders Metal Tails that instead of recovering the plant, he simply drains it of its energy until it leaves it like a withered shoot.

    Upon hearing those words, a murderous rage took over Tails. The Chaos Emeralds in his bag (which he recovered during the attack on Eggman's ship) and even the Mazter Emerald itself began to glow. Tails set Cosmo down gently and confronted the robot. The cannon pointed at them, the robotic version of himself and the evil energy they emanated made him feel a lot of emotions (that last part is for you to use your great skills to write about feelings).

    He came to think that at some point or dimension there could be another version of him that could have made better or worse decisions, ending up as a ruthless monster, but on this occasion he would not be wrong again.

    The energy of the Chaos Emerald surrounded him and when the glow ended he now had nine tails which ended in blue tips and he had three blue streaks on his forehead.

    He was now Super Miles Nine-Tails.

    He tells her that if she wants to shoot her she will have to kill him first. In the blink of an eye, Super Tails launches an attack, to which Metal Tails responds by firing the robot's arm cannon. Super Tails' fist pierces the beam, breaks the cannon and continues until it pierces Metal Tails completely.

    Scene change:

    Sonic emerges from the rubble of the ship which had fallen on a cliff overlooking the sea. In an instant Super Tails appears before him with Cosmo in his arms. Sonic had a thousand questions because of Tails' appearance and the fact that he had Cosmo in his hands but a look from his friend let Sonic know that it didn't matter now. Super Tails told Sonic to take care of Cosmo while he handed her over to him. Sonic nodded and Tails shot into the sky.

    Eggman's ship fired everything it had but Super Tails didn't care and in a second he was a couple of meters above the ship's control room. Through the glass Super Tails could see Eggman panicking and apparently ordering his robots to evacuate. However Tails looked past that, passing through metal and wires he found hundreds of floors below Dark Oak's head connected to a pile of wires in the middle of a large room.

    Super Tails rose a little, standing with the Sun behind him. He raised his right fist and in the blink of an eye he looked like a flower (this was due to the way his tails were spread in all directions) and lunged at the ship. He crossed everything in his path until he reached the engine room and with a "Oak... YOU LOSE!!!!" I destroy his head by going at maximum speed. Eggman and his robots escaped in a capsule just in time before the ship exploded.

    On the ground everyone had gathered next to Sonic to watch as Tails returned and landed, dropping the emeralds next to him and returning to normal. At that moment the piece of cliff Tails was on broke but since he was very tired he couldn't do anything to avoid falling. Everyone ran to his rescue but Sonic tripped over an inexplicable root that made me drop his precious cargo.

    Here The Shining Road starts playing:

    A few seconds before Tails hit the ground a flower came out of the ground to support him, causing some of his white petals to be blown by the wind.

    When Tails opened his eyes he saw the white petals falling from the sky and lying next to him was Cosmo holding his hands. Tails smiled happily and brought her tails closer to her body. The camera zooms out to show the others on the top looking at the scene and when the camera returns to show Cosmo and Tails they are surrounded by the fallen Chaos Emeralds which formed a heart.

    End of The Shining Road and this story.

    Final information:

    I swear I imagined all this while I was sleeping, with the same animation as the original series. It was getting to the point where this was being shown by the owners of the Sonic franchise confirming a bunch of games with Tails as the protagonist and saying that Cosmo would be a permanent member of Team Sonic from now on. Of course when I woke up and realized it was all a dream I almost wanted to shoot myself xd.

    I am incapable of writing anything meaningful so when I saw your story and how you included Metal Sonic I thought this was about destiny. I understand that to do this changes would have to be made for it to work but I seriously have to ask the question. Could you fulfill my dream by adapting this in your fanfic with the corresponding changes?

      Oh wow, that's certainly quite the dream you had there! I wish I was there too!

      In regards to fulfilling your dream, while I am always open-minded to other ideas, I can't promise that I will write this. And I already have a fairly solid idea on how this arc will go. But I will certainly consider some elements along the way!

        I know a lot of people (myself included) want Cosmo to come back, but wouldn't that ruin the ending of Sonic X? After so many years it doesn't seem like they want to return to Cosmo but if they do it would take away the meaning of his death scene. That scene is full of feelings that make us empathize with Tails for his loss, but if we saw the image again knowing that Cosmo was revived, wouldn't that take away that feeling? What occurs to me is that they bring Cosmo back in a universe that has nothing to do with that of Sonic X. Of course, by doing that you could say that it is not the same Cosmo that we met in the series.

        I know this has nothing to do with the fanfic but I was curious to know what you think about that topic.

          I do agree that bringing her back could potentially ruin the emotional impact her death scene had. However, I am also a big believer that if a writer can find a way to bring back a character that's written in a plausible and respectful way, then I encourage them to do that. An idea is one thing, it's the execution that matters.

          It's funny you should bring this up because I did introduce Cosmo in my previous story, Return of the Dark Brotherhood. That story took place in the game's universe and it showed Cosmo and her people if they never became the Meterax.

            By the way, do you plan to include more characters in this fanfic that were not in the original Sonic X? Examples would be Silver, Blaze or Maria in the Mobian version (although the latter might already be too many resurrections for this fanfic)

                Another thing is Sonic Prime (from which the inspiration for the design of Super Miles Nine-Tails surely came) in which I wonder how things would have happened if Cosmo had been involved. Perhaps a dimensional rift caused by the Paradix Prism sends Cosmo to the dimension inhabited by Nine and from there the events of the series unfold. The incredible thing is that I haven't found anyone who has thought of that and made a fanfic accordingly.
