Yes! I’ll definite give Leon a chance, as soon as I get over my mental aversion to him and Ada together (which I guess will have to be quickly). I can’t believe I used to ship the two of them back when I was first getting into the series. Once 5 came out I went back and played 4, and I remember going “WTF am I thinking? Wesker is 100 times better 😂”
I’ve never really wrote the other mains (Chris, Jill, etc) in the past so I hope I can stay at least semi-true to character with them! ❤️

I about nearly dropped from laughing 🤣 . I’d 100% read that thesis. I can appreciate the role Leon plays, truly, but other than a good time, there is NO WAY Ada is picking Leon over Wesker lol. She’s not inherently good like Claire. I can totally see Ada doing something selfish (like in the CGI movie), and just driving Leon nuts all the time. I’m convinced that familiarity would breed contempt in their case.
Idk, I just think that Leon/Claire or Leon/Ashley made more sense imo. 😂

As for the thesis content: pretty flipping spot on. I honestly couldn't disagree with those points. It it so refreshing to read a similar perspective on their relationship. It just doesn't work for the reasons you mentioned. I'm sure someone could make an argument against the A/W ship as well, but I feel that we're such a small group nobody's gonna bother with us. 😂 I feel most A/W tags are really just A/L tags and they throw in Wesker just to grab our attention. I've fallen prey to that so many times.
I could eventually see Ada and Leon being "friends" if she ever left her line of work, but I doubt that would happen. Hell, I also felt that her and Luis had more chemistry in RE4R than her and Leon rofl. And I totally agree- she knows they aren't compatible. She'd be a wanted criminal if Simmons wasn't always going around wiping info on her when it popped up. There ain't no way she's gonna settle down with Leon after everything she's done in between ha ha.
Hear hear. That's why your fics are some of the best things this fandom has seen in the past decade at least. I literally have fanart of them from 2007 saved on my computer lol. Still I wouldn't be so obsessed if not for the remake. Someone (more likely multiple people) at Capcom were thinking along the same lines... that to me was shocking, really. Separate Ways made me feverish for weeks lol. So while we're few in number there are definitely greater powers on our side XD
Now, Ada is totally thrill-seeking. I agree, she's not leaving her line of work. She continued to be a mercenary after everything that went down in RE6 and probably was also rogue in the scrapped Village concept. I've stumbled upon a piece of translated material a while back (I tried to find it just now to no avail, sorry) that explained her perspective a little better. Something like "all men are fools with their ego and futile attempts to come out on top, but this one (Wesker) is different" and how she was attracted to him and found him special and wanted to see what he's all about. It definitely came from Capcom though idk if it's some obscure game file or an excerpt from some novel or whether it's canon. Both Wesker and Simmons intended for her to assume a similar role it seems, someone to stand by them when they create/rule a new world. One would think some complicity on her part had lead them to fathom that.
P.S. I always fantasized about a scenario where he's successfully persuaded her somehow and, while of course they went down in flames after causing the world much trouble, think of the angst... I think this is partly due to how abruptly things ended between them and I just never got over it... wanting them to end up together no matter what that end looks like. I think I briefly mentioned this in a comment about songs but I've generally kept this to myself bc of the amorality and it being overly dark for 99% of people. They drive me crazy lol
I've played separate ways twice this week and the sounds I make every time Wesker shows up in a cutscene is honestly embarrassing. Remake Wesker has grown on me so much.
I could honestly get behind a dark oneshot of them being at the Spencer together and transitioning to their time in Africa-- I'd have so many major character deaths though lol. 🤣
