Comment on I'll Swallow Your Darkness

  1. No, I've never played any of the games AT ALL. I've seen the Advent Children movie, and that's the extent of it. Of course, in the movie they don't go into a lot o detail and you only see Sephiroth for a few minutes at the end, and he's barking mad and it doesn't explain anything. So thank you very much for the info! Apparently I *am* getting my info from fanon rather than canon, although I got the bit about Sephiroth being able to influence Cloud off the wiki page....it also goes on to say that Cloud's ultimately strong enough to break away from it, so I fudged that part a little bit...sorta...because the influence here is pretty limited too, and only manages to kind of work for a few minutes. I think the real reason Sephiroth is able to influence Cloud in this bit of fiction is because Cloud subconsciously wants him to, considering the nature of the relationship in the story. Which is obviously entirely contrived as hell just because I think they're both so. Damn. Pretty.

LOL...I'm a big KH fan, and so most of my FF stuff is coming from that game 'verse, where Square has a big assortment of the fandom's favorite characters from multiple games as characters purely to try to influence FF fans to play the game. In it, their own world(s) have been completely consumed by Darkness, but something has randomly saved them all and brought them there, including Sephiroth, who is in the game ONLY as an optional massive Boss Fight. He's not an antagonist, he just appears periodically looking for Cloud, and when he does find him, he taunts him about accepting the darkness in him, Cloud tells him to shut up, they get in fights, and then rinse and repeat. Sephiroth doesn't try to take over the world, or hook up with any of the game villains or anything, which is my (admittedly lame) reasoning for having him potentially be the Sephiroth from before he became a total villain

    1. Ahh that's a shame! I would totally recommend you play the OG if you have the chance! It's one of the best games out there (in my opinion anyway). I really hope you didn't get offended by my comment, I was literally just asking out of curiosity. As I said, the characters are really intense and considering that you've only watched Advent Children you've done an excellent job of characterisation.

I love the idea of KH, taking ready established characters and putting them in another world but ugh...Disney? I dunno. I can't get my head around Micky Mouse running around the same universe as Sephiroth lol. And Goofy...I can't make myself play it! It's terrible, I know and I'm missing out on some cool stuff but my mind is not ready ready for a disney/ff cross over au. Lol. Maybe one day I'll give it a chance, who knows!

Just to add that Sephiroth controlling Cloud is what I live for! Do not apologise for that! Yeah he CAN fight it but meh that's no fun. Lol. Also Cloud with a wing is epic, although I personally prefer feathery wing but I quite like the bat like design from KH.

Just a last quick apology. I'm sorry if I came across wrong, I just wanted to chat.

      1. You didn't offend me! Thanks for the explanation. I've got a friend with autism, and the detail thing is one of the things she seems to struggle with the most, next to the intensely focused interest in a certain subject, hobby or activity that will consume her for totally random amounts of time and then just switch off like a light when something else catches her focus. I don't have personal experience, but I think I can imagine a little what the frustration is like.

I get what you mean about the Disney thing. Playing through the Disney worlds is really fun, but some of the characters are a huge pain in the ass. My family really loves the game for the original characters in it, not the DIsney characters. We keep wishing Square Enix would continue the series without Disney as a partner, so they could focus more on the storyline and character development, because many of them are really wonderful. Having Donald and Goofy as sidekicks is a huge pain in the ass sometimes.

I'm very happy you're enjoying the story! I'm having a lot of fun writing it, even if it's not letting me get a lot of sleep.

        1. Glad you understand, my obsessive tendencies can get the better of me. Phew.

I'd probably play it if it didn't have the Disney aspect, I love Disney don't get me wrong but some things just shouldn't be combined! Lol. Can't wait to read more though, I'm curious as to where it's going despite the unfamiliarity with the game.
