Comment on though the sun continues to stand

  1. “Jason,” Bruce cried, his voice weak and cracking. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”
DDDD: Oh man, this is rough :( In fact, all of Bruce has been rough – his descent into grief has just been terrible. Poor Bruce :(

Alfred had miscalculated. Tim still looked nervous and miserable, but he clearly had a tolerance for internal turmoil that rivaled Bruce’s. If the velvet glove approach wasn’t working, it was time to deploy the iron fist.
Goodness I love the way you write Alfred XD

Alfred knew that the greatest sin in the world was hardly ill-timing; that was merely the irony of living in the world, where so many moving gears had to turn in concert to give a boy a good life or destroy his peace utterly.
This is so, so perfect. I just love the way you’ve written Alfred: so perceptive and wise and protective and patient. And again, I adore the parallels you’re drawing between Tim and Bruce, and how Alfred knows what he’s seeing only too well.

The little glass box closed around him like a transparent noose.
Wow, this is so amazing. And oh Bruce, all his loneliness and grief and belief it’s too late for him are just so sad… my heart breaks for the bleak picture you’ve drawn of him here, and everything he’s lost. Though can I just say, I LOVE Bruce field-testing drugs on himself? He so would XD

    “Honestly, Alfred?”

Bruce ignored Alfred’s murmured, it certainly would be a nice change of pace.
HA HA HA, THIS IS EXCELLENT ALFRED SNARK A+

Bruce reached out for her lasso, to pull himself up, but his hands, slick with blood, couldn’t grab the magical golden thread that burned, burned, burned with a truth he wasn’t willing to embrace, not yet.
Oh man, this whole dream sequence is just… ughh, it’s too perfect for me to even put into words. Bruce’s yearning and desire to fix the things he can’t… ooof, right in the feels.

I totally love how detailed you have made this, and how much attention you’ve paid to the intellectual side of Bruce’s work, the science and mathematics. And it’s so brilliantly done! It’s so fantastic to see a fic that so carefully looks at this side of Bruce’s work, and how ridiculously intelligent he is.

The Bat Vigilante of Gotham, upset by a tie.
Haha. Well, untreated PTSD will do that to you, Bruce XD

He was running as that laugh filled up the cave.
:OOOOOOOOO omg omg omg This was chilling!!!!

“No fair, Batsy,” the Joker tutted. “This isn’t a multiple choice question. There’s only one correct answer. And that answer is BOOM.”
I LOVE how you’re writing the Joker!!! I haven’t seen Suicide Squad but I just love what you’re doing :)

    1. “You would have given it up forever, if I hadn’t found you,” the Joker sniped, his voice gone coldly jealous. “You should be thanking me.”
Oh, this is so, so great. One of the things I’ve always really loved about the Joker and Batman is the suggestion that one can’t exist without the other; this is just such a perfect line, and it sums up the Joker so awesomely. EEE!

Six months without a knife to the ribs made a man complacent about suffering.
HAAAA. Oh Bruce. Also, this whole sequence was just so amazing? I love how Tim struggles through the pain, and how matter of fact Alfred is about it – testing whether Tim really is cut out for this, and if he can ignore his body when it really matters. And Bruce dragging himself through the wreckage, the Joker still mocking him – all of this is SO BRILLIANT. Gosh this is just an amazing fic. I am in awe of you!

“God, I hope I didn’t sleep with Bruce again.” Tamora wrinkled her nose. “I did once; it was awful.”
      SCREAM

“I hear Kansas is lovely in the fall, don’t you think?”
Results had been very promising after all.
I swear I actually CLAPPED MY HANDS at this point.

Oh wow, that was just an utterly amazing story, I literally CANNOT TELL YOU how much I loved it – I am so amazed at the scope of what you did here, following Tim’s life for so long, his dedication to Batman (and more than that, the ideal of Batman), Bruce’s descent into grief, the conflict, and the meshing of the cinematic universe and the comics – I honestly just can’t get over it! This was an incredible fic, writer, and I’m just lost for words. It’s truly stunning. Thank you so much for writing it and for sharing. I feel like I’ll be re-reading this a lot :D

YES!! *fist pump* I'm so glad this moment landed for you, because after writing this story in a complete haze, THIS IS THE MOMENT. The one that made me jump up out of my seat. THIS STORY HAS ACHIEVED SOMETHING! (AND IMMEDIATELY GAVE ME THOUGHTS ABOUT A SEQUEL, AUGH. XD)

I'm just... I'm kind of speechless myself. Thank you for reading, and commenting, and squeeing your feelings at me. When I set out to write this fic, I knew that it'd be ... of niche appeal. I think the exact words I used with my writing partners were "a gen fic about depressing batfam feels for an unpopular tag in the DCEU fandom" a.ka. a fic only its recip might love. So that you've found something to love here... I'm just really, really damned happy. THANK YOU KINDLY, SALTEDPIN. <33333333333333

    2. *HIGH FIVES YOU FOR ALFRED FEELINGS* Gah, reading your reactions to this fic is just a PLEASURE, seriously. (Three comments??? It's an embarrassment of riches. <33333)

I felt like this fic was also a little bit of me saying: "OH HEY LOOK AT ALL OF THESE ALFRED FEELS I HAVE, DO YOU WANT TO HEAR THEM? :DDDDDDD" All of the Bruce/Clark I've written for the kinkmeme has been fun, but it's given me this surfeit of Alfred snark, and I unleashed it all at once, here. I'm so, so happy that you enjoyed it too. Because as much as Bruce spends all of his time thinking/dreaming about his parents, Alfred spends as much time thinking/planning/keeping Bruce out of trouble. The power behind the power, as it were.

:OOOOOOOOO omg omg omg This was chilling!!!! I LOVE how you’re writing the Joker!!! I haven’t seen Suicide Squad but I just love what you’re doing :)

THAT MAKES TWO OF US! I still haven't seen Suicide Squad yet (hopefully we'll watch it with the #batbar soon!). I definitely ripped this version off from the Timmverse, with a lot of artistic liberties. This is the first DCEU fic where I've actually had to write a villain, and I was FIST PUMPING HERE that he landed, and was chilling/creepy/everything the Joker should be. I think if the Suicide Squad Joker turns out to be disappointing, I'll continue to pretend that he met a different fate. x'D

It’s so fantastic to see a fic that so carefully looks at this side of Bruce’s work, and how ridiculously intelligent he is.

OH YEAH. I feel that a lot of my fic picks at Bruce's failures of his cerebral work (because I enjoy poking Bruce for not doing his homework on Superman prior to their confrontation), and so it felt great to turn to the other side of that. Just how ridiculously competent Bruce is; that he has the mind of an engineer, and he's so bloody-minded about doing things himself (for a value of "himself" that often extends out to include Alfred, and maybe one or two other people IF WE'RE LUCKY), that of course, he'd be tinkering with advanced sciences WITHOUT CONSULTING ANYONE ELSE. POSSIBLY ALSO ENDANGERING HIS LIFE. Because Bruce can be ridiculous sometimes. BRUCE TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIMENTS SO THEY DON'T FREAK OUT, OKAY? /o\ xD
