Alex, Audrey, and their father were all very close to one another. They relied on each other. Audrey was the most outwardly affectionate, but Alex and his father understood each other, too

It helps that his father’s trait was JUSTICE (hence the yellow eyes). JUSTICE is one of the more morally diverse traits, and the old man decided equilibrium needed to be maintained— a life for a life.
