As an aroace myself I dont mind keeping the romance out, characters are plenty interesting without it. Sometimes even more interesting. I am honestly just sad there is probably not gonna be a Will cameo during the yule ball if this was supposed to become a Nico/Harry lmao. Anyways, awesome chapter once again. I keep saying that, lmao.
I totally agree, especially when I read these kinda fics where it’s mostly plot based, even though I do read a lot of ship fics here. It definitely won’t be a main point of the story since I’m aro and genuinely struggle with writing stuff I don’t relate too BUT I do like Harry and Nico’s interactions. Honestly, I might leave it vague.
And interestingly enough: I originally wrote this as a TOA fic, where he was sent here instead of becoming mortal. Nico and Will were originally together and went to the Yule Ball, but…um… let’s just say it felt sort of static-y between them, especially since Nicos going to be in Scotland the next 3-4 years (re: I couldn’t write them properly in this fic😣).
I ended up changing this to post-TLO with Apollo fucking something up. So, Nico and Will haven’t had a chance to bond yet—nor will they since Nico’s story is quite different from the original HOO storyline!—but I do wish Solangelo worked out the first time around, but I felt like it was forced and that Nico/Harry has better moment and chemistry then when I wrote Nico with Will unfortunately.
On the flipside! I could probably write a side piece about Nico inviting Will to the Yule Ball in a ‘what if’ sort of way, like deleted scenes from my first draft, as I still have certain *things* written out that didn’t end up working for me.
I’d love a side piece! But this makes sense for Nico and Will. Either way, do what feels comfortable. The normal HP series also only had vague ships until the flash forward, so it would make sense to keep it all vague, but there if you want to read it.
