Comment on Redgrave's Shadow

  1. Apologies for the late reply. Completely agree with you about Nero being the best of his grandparents' intelligence factors. In a way, it's where he completely balances out both twins; Dante's emotional intelligence ( Eva) is factored by Vergil's intellect (Sparda), even if his way of showing it is slightly maverick by his profanity. His experiences growing up have certainly shaped up how he's turned out.

Dante is undoubtedly a whole bag of trauma worth unravelling. Exploring the in-canon reasons why he kept so dark about Nero's relation to him for so long is interesting. I think Dante was trying to do the "right thing" on his part. Whether we can perceive this as just Dante being afraid of Nero walking his brother's path ( which poor Dante probably brought up a whole set of mixed feelings and thoughts), or just trying to spare Nero's feelings, or even a bit of both, is another matter. On the other hand, I do kind of like to think that deep down Nero did begin to wonder if Dante was his father more than once, even if it was just in his head. I mean, white hair, demonic powers and an uncanny resemblance to Dante? To be fair, I think we would all be in the same boat in his shoes...
