    I would say I shrieked when I saw this update, but that would be a lie. I was in public w family, so instead I just curled around my phone a grinned like a cheshire cat.

    At least I assume that's what I did, since my gma saw my look and asked me what happened 😭 and I hadda explain, "I got good news: one of my favorite authors just posted chapter two."

    Then I had to explain fanfiction to her, but that's neither here nor there.

    Anyway: the chapter!

    First, I expected a cliffhanger and I'm still broken-hearted I want the next chapter so baaaaad (don't rush tho - you waited just long enough that I'd forgotten about Data's contractions and so his first one made me giggle)

    My memory is admittedly short-lived, though, because I saw the title and went "oooooh" and was still completely unprepared for Riker to come face to face with Kirk 😭😭

    Speaking of Kirk (who ofc knows his own crew 🤣 rip Riker), you absolutely *nailed* the TOS crew and interactions - just fantasic work. Bones and Spock's banter made me smile, and so did their competence.

    Honestly this is everything I could want from a crossover, I was trying to read it and talk to family I just couldn't wait 😅

    I eagerly await the next installment now (I'm on the edge of my seatttt)

      Oh, you're so sweet. I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I love that you mentioned the competence of the characters. One of my favorite things about Star Trek is how competent and professional everyone is. There's something very calming about it.

      It's also nice to see you immediately figured out that Kirk knew Riker was the intruder because he didn't recognize him. I learned just before I posted this that the enterprise had a crew of 430 (I thought it was 150-200 ish), and got worried that part was unrealistic. I decided on just adding another sentence of justification to the next chapter. I think Kirk is the kind of guy to make an effort to know everyone.

      I'm going to try to post weekly on Friday-ish from here on out, if that helps with your suspense, though I reserve the right to be late (or early). It's all essentially written, but I need to wrap up final edits.

        You're very wise to have it finished before posting; I've never managed that myself, and envy your work ethic 😅😅 I will eagerly each chapter as it arrives

        I absolutely agree that Kirk is the type of leader to make the effort of knowing his crew, and I've seen it done often enough in fics that I knew it was the reason he insta-clocked Riker (and then insta-*clocked* Riker 😭). So it's definitely not unbelievable (except maybe to Riker, who serves w over 1000 people hahahaha)

        And I also adore how competent Star Trek characters are. They'll be crashing into a star or a black hole and still be calm it's honestly so good and you've captured it very well here.

        Anyway. I continue to await your uploads and you can definitely expect to hear from me after each one 😁

          So not only did you immediately know how Kirk recognized Riker, but you've also used a joke I have in the next chapter. This is getting slightly eerie.
