    Also (since this isn't a spoiler), in ages past, it's not too strange to trade your child—particularly your first born—for something before they're born. Think of deals with the fae where they promise their first born (physically). Think of demon deals that can trade your lifespan. In many media types and lore, descendents are available replacement cash because they're seen as part of a person (initially) before becoming their own person.

      Now I'm getting it, so the kid isn't seen as their own person yet, so they can be traded instead? Cook. Now I'm wondering what happens if the kid dies or something before the demon can claim their soul. Do they get the soul as soon as the deal is made or is the soul on pre-order and they have to go pick it up?

      Could the parents also agree on a time that the demon could get the soul, like after 10 years? Could they also do it condition based, like they only get the soul after such and such happens?

      Also, since we on the topic of critical thought, I wish Ewa remembered to argue her workers rights 😂. Didn't ask about her salary, insurance, if she could get her stuff, days off, if the job is just 24/7, paid vacation, if she'd get security. She's lining herself up to get hoed.

        Currently, Ewa is her own person and could not have any of her pieces traded beyond what is already in orbit (her soul, but Diavolo's isn't letting that one go). Before her existence, she was seen as not a person because there was a chance she'd never even exist. Also, reapers reap souls. They would deal in the delivery iirc.

        Soul trading can be just as specific as any other form of trading. Let's just say the specifics of this deal is a very intricate plot point.

        Oh, just you wait about that~ While not exactly worker's rights she'll be fussing about, she's gonna have these demons on their toes so much. First appearance of her shows her to be scarily analytical and the second depicts her as person able to flip her demeanor and make a situation advantageous at the drop of a hat. I'm not saying any more, but maybe add that knowledge to your theories.
