Charlie getting things for “ his” Tommy, I am so glad one of the adults in charge could think of what could comfort Tommy. Only Charlie knew that warm socks and his stuffed horse could bring any level of comfort, he understands Tommy without words . Maybe his horse can be a mental link to happier times , he needs it with him during his extended stay. Oh Polly, would not want to have a shred of compassion, screaming and humiliating dr’s is not going to fix the issue at hand , she is just a softer version of her brother hiding under the identity of caring aunt. None of this will help him with his issues but rather give the dr’s insight as to why he butchered himself. Polly and Arthur do not make a compelling case for caring and supportive family. Tommy berating himself for not properly doing the job the first time and being angry with himself for not finishing it as his father wanted him to the second time. Now he feels his “ mistake “ and “ Shame “ is there for all to see is so physically painful to me. Not only is he upset he was not successful but he has to live with the fallout of his injury and immediately thinks of the impact of what he can’t do for his siblings and that he may not ride again. It is evident that Charlie knowing to bring horses to him to save him from coming near the cut that he would do anything for Tommy. The scorn from the neighbors faded into the.background as soon he heard his favorite horse, Tommy’s oxygen supply is dependent on his ability to ride horses, that will be what gets him thru the physical recovery, I hope horses are a part of his therapy program. And poor sweet Arthur wondering who will offer him comfort when he is locked away. Who is going to take care of Arthur? Our Tommy is in a deep dark hole and it is going to take a team effort and a few horses to pull him out. Thank you so much for this update. This is written so respectfully and truthful to Tommy core .
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! It always means a lot to know what you think. You're the best reader one can dream of. ❤️ Charlie definitely knows what can bring a little comfort to Tommy. The love of horses is something they share from the beginning and he would gladly bring a real horse if it was possible. I can assure you that there will be horses in Tommy's future. Polly sees suicide as surrender and weakness, which she simply can't accept. She takes out her anger and frustration with Tommy on anyone else she can find. She could benefit from a sensitivity training. it's difficult for Tommy to accept not only living, but doing it with the consequences of his injuries he didn't count on surviving at all. Arthur is the sweetest, most devoted brother but he needs to remember to take care of himself, too, and ask for help.
