I'm more and more interested in what the hell happened between Orion and Leander! 🤨 It sounds very life-changing, especially since they were friends as boys. And Regulus is right: Why would Orion send his sons to Leander so often when there was clearly bad blood between them and Leander was a well known death eater? Something Orion doesn't approve of? 🤯😱
I love that you made Orion actually kinda relatable and reasonable here. Because he is right! The wizarding world has already had one dark lord before, one very powerful dark lord, and he failed. Orion was right to not join Voldemort and throw his life away, no matter how much he may believe in the cause.
I also love that Orion thinks Regulus takes after him, because while on the outside they may seem similar in temper, I really don't think they are very much alike in their characters or convictions. I think Regulus does have more of a conscience - though it's clear to me here that Orion does somewhat too. Regulus just has been molded and let astray by his parents for his whole life and his inferiority complex was the final straw. I do believe he was a very soft, kind child with a big heart for everything and everyone (evident still in his care for Kreature) and it makes me sad what a talented, great wizard he could have become had he made some better friends like Sirius did. 🥹 (Speaking of which: Is there Jegulus going on in this story? It was implied in another story and I'm just curious!) Because then Regulus sure would have been sorted into Gryffindor! And he was quite a skilled wizard, having overcome Voldemort's defenses for his horcrux at the age of 17.
Oh man! I always make myself sad when I think of Regulus because he is just such a tragic character! 😭😭😭
Thank you so much for your comment! 🙏 It made me smile 😊
I’m glad Orion came across a bit more relatable in this chapter. He’s not just a moody aristocrat, promise 😂 I might actually write something about him as a teenager at some point, because there’s definitely a bit of him in Regulus. More than there is of Walburga, anyway 😅
Regulus has got just a bit too much conscience for the world he grew up in and the one he’s trying to be part of 😭
In the Blacks’ circle, they’d be pretty lonely if they cut off every Death Eater they knew. Between Cygnus’ daughters (and him himself) marrying into Death Eater families and their social ties, it’s basically their entire network. It is strange Orion and Walburga didn’t join themselves, but I imagine they see themselves as a cut above, “practically royal,” like Sirius said. Let the others do the dirty work for the ‘noble’ cause. 🙄
What happened between Orion and Leander was definitely life-changing, but way too much to fit into this story. 👀
As for Jegulus, I don’t think it fits here, so I won’t be including it in this one.
Tbh, I always wondered what went 'wrong' with Sirius that he doesn't believe in all that pure blood mania. Sirius does still act like a true Black in some ways: arrogant, cruel with some and with a serious temper on him. His treatment of Kreacher and Snape, and that whole Fat Lady portrait mess definitely say a lot. He never really expresses much regret, either, even about things that had massive consequences. James might well have been his moral compass, which is a bit brutal but… not wrong 🤷♀️ Maybe I’m just super biased because honestly? I’m convinced the Marauders would’ve bullied me too if I’d been at Hogwarts back then 😭🫠
Thanks again for taking the time to write a comment 💛
I'd love to read a story about Orion! I think you made him a very interesting character, especially with this story. You gave him a lot more nuance here.
I actually love Sirius precisely because he's not a morally good character. I mean, he literally tried to more or less let Snape be killed by his friend at the start of his fifth year and he's also never really regretted bullying Snape. He is reckless and selfish and a very bad influence on Harry. And that's what makes him intereting and lovable imo! In that sense, he is indeed a true Black, and I suppose the only reason he turned to the "good" side were his friends James and Remus. Probably more Remus than James tbh 😂
