  1. Respectfully, I am going to continue writing Johnny the way I am writing Johnny, because I enjoy it.

I am not going to lie and say that I’ve read all the comics because I flat out just haven’t- i’ve read a few here and there once I first got interested in the ship to get the vibes of Johnny and the FF, but that’s really it. I have seen both of the original Fox movies, and they were certainly… some of the movies of all time.

Johnny’s character in this is born out of learning about all of his different histories and major arcs and just wanting to interpret his character in a slightly different way- particularly, a way I can personally relate to. His powers right from his inception as a character being tied to his hotheadedness made me think about his powers being tied to his emotions, and that reminded me of my own life, as around my early teens is when a lot of my mental health issues started rearing their ugly heads and or getting significantly worse very quickly. Combined with the natural hormonal fluctuations from puberty I felt like I suddenly had lost control of my own mind and emotions and couldn’t feel or think the way I used to.

(This interpretation of Johnny) Snuck onto his brother in laws spaceship because he was a reckless and mischievous teenager, and that one action radically altered his whole being on a molecular level. His mind and body even a few years later are still trying to catch up to all of those changes, and that’s causing a toll on his mental health, and he being an emotionally unstable teenage boy, doesn’t know how to deal with that yet. This story is, in part, intended to be a coming of age story for him (and Peter).

If that’s not something that interests you then that’s fine, but you don’t need to be so antagonistic about it my guy.
