  1. What a scummy merchant! To repeadly cheat Jinu like that knowing he doesn't know how much he has or how to really read. Letting Jinu and his family starve like that while lining his own pockets.

Rumi is as sweet as ever even in the past. Showing up dressed in clothes so she won't be noticed and giveing Jinu money for his Bipa playing almost daily. Rumi doesn't seeing people as what class they are but who they are. She sees them for who they are. They could be a prince or a pauper but what matters most to her was what kind of person they are. Yes Jinu was stealing food from the palace but it was a bag of scraps and leftovers so he and his family don't starve. Yes Jinu was covered in dirt yet Rumi did not care if dirt got on her hands, face or clothes but she didn't care. All she saw, all she knew was he needed her help. So of course Rumi was willing to do whatever she could to help him. To get him to trust her.

Sometimes desperste people do desperate things. I wonder who his two friends were, who they robbed or what happened to them after they were caught. Hopefully they are still alive or just locked up and can find a way to escape. Were they two of the Saja Boys but they can't remember that part of their lives as friends with Jinu? That would be awkward yet funny to find out that two of your band mates were two of your former friends from when you were still alive, but you didn't recognize them or couldn't remember them for dome reason. That might be why he subconsciously chose them to be part of the Saja Boys. If all their lives crossed paths when they were all alive before becoming demons. To find out later you knew this person in life yet you never knew it was them for some reason.

I'm loving this story! You are such a good writer.
