Loved this chapter! I'm such a sucker for the Silmarillion mentioned as a history lesson slash fairytale slash cautionary tale, and all the big and small references throughout this were great (as Lúthien and Beren's biggest fan, I cheered! Don't get me started on Thuringwethil being skinned, lol. Love you Lúthien. Also, Maedhros. What a guy.)
Celebrían is so wonderfully characterized too! I love her blossoming personality and abilities, and the way she (unintentionally) makes Adar face his demons in one way or the other. Lovely little found family. And the goats!! Lalaith <3
And of course — ARONDIR! Hi buddy! This will be a rollercoaster. :0

Me too! I actually had a few ideas for how Adar originally conveyed those fairy-tale-like tales of the first age. One of them made its way into a wip that I've been slowly hammering away at. Oh yeah, I'm a huge fan of Lúthien! Though I've read The Silmarillion before, this year I decided to actually annotate it. I'm a very slow annotator, so I've still got about a hundred pages left, but I recently finished the Beren and Lúthien chapter, and when I got to the bit with Thuringwethil, I was just like: "o_O how did I miss THAT on earlier reads?"
Lúthien is far more metal than most people give her credit for. In this fic, Celebrían is her number one fan without even realizing how much their lives intersect. For now, she just knows that Lúthien kicked Sauron's butt and she thoroughly approves.
I am also a humongous Fingon and Maedhros fan; there's no way I could write a Legendarium adjacent fic without mentioning them. I enjoy dropping little Children of Hurin easter-eggs too!

Thank you so much! I did my best to try and make her a blend of all her parents (biological and adopted) and didn't want to go too over-the-top with her Maiar abilities. I figured that since she is mostly a very happy little girl, her abilities would mostly be benign. Not unlike Lúthien herself, who didn't seem to need to whip out the big guns (ability-wise) until Sauron and Morgoth decided to fuck around and find out.
Adar is slowly making progress! He's gaining coping techniques and learning to confront his demons, though he still has a ways to go and sometimes needs a little nudge from Eru in the form of Celebrían's antics.
And of course — ARONDIR! Hi buddy! This will be a rollercoaster. :0
Right?! Poor Arondir came home for the first vacation that he's probably had in like a hundred years, and this is what greets him!
