    “Think about it,” Bucky says gently, brushing the backs of his knuckles over Steve’s cheek. “If you can’t yet accept that you have the right to make your own choice yet, then you may still believe you must obey your Alpha. I am your Alpha, not Joseph. And regardless of the conditions of the engagement agreement I made with your father, I have claimed and mated you already. So you are now mine with no allegiance to your old house. My word is now your law.”

    Steve nods slowly. He bites his lip, glancing down.

    “Then you must obey me,” Bucky repeats. “Alright?”

    Steve nods, relaxing. He mustn’t question his Alpha’s decisions. If Bucky decides to break the agreement he had with Joseph, so be it. Steve only has to obey his Alpha, whoever that is.
