Summary
2009: Sam says “yes” to Lucifer in Detroit, and Dean is hundreds of miles away making a deal with Death when he does. As is tradition, he's determined to save his little brother - whatever it takes. But in a world abandoned by the angels in Heaven and fallen to the forces of Hell, he finds himself drowning under the weight of faith he resents and atrocities he's powerless to prevent. For Castiel, a fallen angel who's made it his charge to shield Dean from harm with unwavering conviction, holding Dean's head above the vicious floodwaters of Armageddon proves to be a nigh-impossible task, especially as he faces the daunting challenge of adapting to mortality amid Heaven's collapse. In the end, they only have each other, but neither knows if it's enough to survive the never-ending onslaught of burdens besetting them.
