Summary
Riley Brooks isn't living the life she planned. At twenty-six, she thought she'd be dazzling New York courtrooms with her wit and natural charm. Instead, she is waitressing at a dive bar in a city that no longer felt much like home. When a European prince and his friends waltz into her life, everything changes. Although the handsome Prince Liam seems enamored with her, it's his brooding best friend that draws her in.
This follows The Royal Romance canon, but fills in the gaps, fixes the timeline and makes some plot points make sense. POV shifts between Riley (I never change the default names!) and Drake. I started switching every chapter, but some chapters got very long, so I may not always do that. For some reason, I love this story and pairing so much that the only way to get it out of my head is to write it.
**The characters, the overarching plot and some dialogue belong to Pixelberry.

Summary
“If we’d met somewhere else . . . anywhere else. At a club in New York, or in an airport, or at a party. If you hadn’t been our waitress that night, and I hadn’t been sitting next to Liam, do you think all of this . . . do you think it could’ve been different . . . between us?”
-Drake WalkerThis is best read after or alongside my original, canon compliant work "Written in the Stars." In this version, all of the characters stay consistent between the two works and it is still told through Riley and Drake's alternating POVs, but it's a sliding doors/'what if' version of events. Instead of meeting in the bar, Riley and Drake meet the night before in a club. Riley and Cassie are on opposite shifts, making Cassie the waitress in the bar the night of the bachelor party. So while Riley remains my MC, Cassie ends up filling the role of TRR main character. (Thus the extremely confusing relationship tags, since they are both sort of main characters and sort of original characters.)

Summary
The events of Book 1 of The Royal Romance play out a little differently when Constantine decides that the scandal with Tariq is unnecessary after seeing the photographs from Applewood. Riley finds herself engaged to a handsome prince, which would be a dream come true if she wasn't desperately in love with his best friend. AU of my canon compliant work Written in the Stars beginning right before Chapter 24.
