Summary
How is it that a small outlying region of the British railway network became so influential, famed and important? Read the full history of the North Western Railway Company from 1860 to 2020 to find out!
This work is based partly on my own fanon, very much on the work of the editors on the Thomas Wiki and a little on the ideas of my fellow writers on this board.

Summary
Everyone was sad to see Wilbert the Forest Engine leave Sodor and, for a long time, the Fat Controller tried to find one of his brothers and sisters to become the new station pilot for Tidmouth. Unfortunately, there were none of his kind up for sale. Not to be daunted, Sir Stephen set the workmen at the Crovan's Gate Works an important task.

Summary
For many years, the North Western Railway was best known for its steam locomotives and it still is. However, time is passing and sensible Controllers will not insist on operating certain types of engine solely because of tradition. This is the story of the diesels of the North-Western Railway and the adventures they are having on the newly-acquired line around the Cumbrian Coast and beyond.

Summary
Possibly the single biggest change that the North Western Railway has experienced in recent years is the successful acquisition of the Cumbrian Coast Line between Lancaster and Carlisle along with the Morecambe and Windermere branches. This near-trebling of the railway's track length has required the acquisition of new trains. This is their story of these new engines and trains as well as their journeys.

Summary
For many years, the engineers at Crovan’s Gate have been working on a very special project, one originally started by Sir Christopher Hatt, continued by his son Sir Stephen and with Lady Julia now supervising as her older cousin entered his last years. For a long time, the Controllers of the North Western Railway had dreamed of restoring Steam as a credible means of traction on the railways of Britain and the wider world. To do so, they had to prove that it was possible to fix several ‘flaws’ that the Controllers of the Other Railway insisted made that dream an impossible one. To do that, they needed a testbed and an engine that could demonstrate the technologies they wanted to demonstrate. They all agreed that the place to look was in a prototype of an engine that had been created to match the first generations of diesels.

Summary
The oldest operational railway on the Island of Sodor is, of course, the Skarloey Railway. It is a long-running legend amongst Enthusiasts about how it survived with only one operational locomotive and that it became truly a People's Railway, running with the support of those who believed in it and its role in its community. Now, as a signal anniversary approaches, the time has come to look back on some of its many adventures and a few of its more recent adventures.

Summary
Many engines came to celebrate the Sesquicentennial of the Skarloey Railway, representing some of the largest narrow gauge engines down to the smallest. However, people aren’t always as reliable as engines and not all of them went home again. One engine in particular found that she found that she was an engine without a home. This is her story.

Summary
It is in the nature of railways for technology and usage to always be changing. Because of this, the Other Railway has experienced many significant changes in locomotion strategy and technology. One of the most important is the increasing replacement of diesel locomotives with electric-hybrid trains with turbines or diesels charging batteries for low-emission electric powered locomotives. However, there has also been a change in the whole way railways are run was changing, thanks to the influence the Engines of the North Western and two generations of the Toppham-Hatt family have had on the Train Operating Companies. Now, the North Western Railway are about to see just what form that is taking.

Summary
Not all of the Engines of the North Western Railway come from exciting backgrounds like Gordon or are unique prototypes like Henry or George. Many, in fact, lived mundane service lives and are quite content to continue to live that routine life to this day. This is the story of one such engine…

Summary
It is sad but true that no engine’s fame is forever. People easily forget and a Steam Engine is a devilishly expensive thing to operate and maintain. Regrettably, some Owners care only for the short-term profit from having a Famous Engine associated with their business and cut corners on maintenance and upkeep in an attempt to maximise these profits. This is the fate that befell Godon’s brother, Flying Scotsman. Although Enthusiasts still love him and want to see him run, his new Owners have found that their predecessors have left him in too dire a state and not even the National Railway Museum was willing to foot the cost. The time had come for unique thinking to solve this problem before it was too late…
