To anyone who’s new, soulmates have moving Rorschach marks. So, black tattoos that move like they have a life of their own, but their shape is different to everyone, depending on what is their impression of the soulmate or what their impression is going to be if they haven’t met them yet. e.g. Luka is Félix’s soulmate. To Félix, the shape of his tattoo has always been a viper (oooh, double symbolism), but to Marinette, the shape of his tattoo would be a star (Luka’s name means light, and to her, he acts as a ‘guiding light’ of sorts), to Juleka, the shape would be a ship (a source of stability) etc.

The marks are susceptible to changes as soulmates grow and their relationship changes. e.g. Luka’s mark started off as a feather before it morphed into a dog when Félix saved him. Adrien’s started off as a swarm of ladybugs, but later it will shift to cherry blossom flowers.
