Description:

The trio's search for the Horcruxes was abandoned when Griphook absconded with the Sword of Gryffindor, leaving the three – traumatised and disheartened – to return to join the rest of the Order in the ongoing brutal war against Voldemort. Several months later a maimed, disillusioned, and broken Draco surrenders himself to the Order after his failures earn him Voldemort's displeasure, and Hermione finds herself the warder of the prisoner in the cellar.

The Risk'verse Quartet is an epic, coming-of-age wartime series that follows Hermione, Draco, and the Order of the Phoenix throughout an extended war, and then onward into the aftermath. It's a realism-focused character and relationship study, with dual POV, angst and hurt/comfort, slow emotional burn w/ glacial physical burn, bickering & banter, a secret relationship, Classical Latin as a love language, violence and gore, coping with broken families, and how the brutal toll of war and trauma changes people.

But at the heart of it all, it's about a love that eclipses everything else.

Notes:

Originally posted on FFnet from 2012-'14 as 2 fics, (later split into 3,) it is undergoing a massive rewrite as of 2024, along with the addition of a new, 4th fic, and a companion fic. The 4 central fics are Gravitation, The Risk-Reward Ratio, The Just World Fallacy, and Axiom, as well as a companion fic, In the Absence of the Sun.

Gravitation
[Law III: To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts.]
*
The Risk-Reward Ratio
[Relationship of substantial reward corresponding to the amount of risk taken; mathematically represented by dividing the expected return by the standard deviation.]
*
The Just World Fallacy
[The cognitive bias that a person's actions always bring morally fair and fitting consequences to that person, so that all noble actions are eventually rewarded and all evil actions are eventually punished.]
*
Axiom
[A statement or proposition which is regarded as being established, accepted, or self-evidently true.]
