Summary
Astrid Larsen is a freelance photographer taking care of her young son, Jasper, and teenage goddaughter, Angie Santos in a small town in NC. She has definitely come a long way since high school, which, for her, was a living hell. Although she was grateful for her loyal group of friends, including someone who had always been much more.
Parker Rivera, an openly non-binary author, is well known for their best-selling romance novel that may or may not have been loosely based off of their secret high school romance with Astrid. Regardless, they now had a nice life in New York where they adopted three kids who have now grown into kind, unique young adults.
But then one phone call quickly turns into a temporary move-in back to their childhood home where they decide to get a job at a new local coffee shop. One morning, they see Astrid sitting at one of the tables, looking as beautiful as they remember. The two of them catch up, deciding to spend some time together before Parker has to go back to New York.
But what happens when they not only start to learn about the lives that they have been leading since their split but also the secrets they kept from each other during their relationship?

Summary
The Larsen/Santos family and half of the Rivera family get to spend a fun day at Havenford's fall festival. And after seeing each other for the first time in so long, Parker and Astrid use this to catch up from their conversation at Cafe Royale. Through the excitement, Angie quickly recruits Amber to help set them up with Astrid. She is determined to not let her inexperience with love get in the way of Astrid's happiness. And it may be an opportunity to help her build courage in her own love life. But things take an interesting turn when Parker and some friends they've made invite Astrid out to a night of fun at Bronze Brew. Though Astrid seems hesitant by the invitation and the guest list, she decides to try her best to be there to spend more time with Parker before they leave her. Again. However, things may not go as planned when Astrid finds herself working through old feelings, caring about things in Parker's life that may just not be any of her business anymore. And after a fun night gone wrong, she accidentally goes too far to defend them. Especially since it seems like they don't want her help if it turns into chaos. She just hopes it isn't too late to rekindle some old feelings, even if it's only through friendship.
