Bucky dropped to a knee beside him without hesitation.
“Hey, hey—easy,” he said, his voice low, calm despite the adrenaline kicking in. “You’re not gonna die here. Not tonight.”

Cicada fails to grow out of his metaphorical shell. His advisor, the moth, takes the throne from him. Handservant, father figure, valet de chambre, companion, bedside soother, the man who brushed out his hair after Luca tried to kill him in a jealous fit- this is the man who becomes king instead of Luca. The cicada cannot stand it.
Or: Luca has a years-overdue meltdown after the incident that took his (and Alva's) wings.
He’s so gentle that it hurts more than anything Luca hopes for. He doesn’t speak, either, for the whole night. There’s only that look of lingering pity and sadness and sharp disappointment that Luca can’t stand, thrown down at him every time he sniffles just a little bit too sharply with every couple of breaths. Alva wipes his tears anyhow, and pets his hair until exhaustion tears Luca into sleep. Alva’s gone in the morning just like always. The days pass back into monotony.
