Summary
When Spock's mother played the new piano for the first time, he found himself strangely drawn to it. He peered inside at the obscenely bared viscera under the raised lid, wondered at the way the hammers danced and the strings shook. Then, he curled his fingers over the edge of the open instrument, and suddenly he knew the truth.
It was not just the strings; the whole instrument vibrated. And when he touched it, the vibration rattled in his own bones. Sympathetic resonance.
And he thought to himself, almost nonsensically: Nothing from Vulcan thrums like this.
Only a human could make something that vibrates with such passion.
Only something human could thrum like this.
