With a respectful dip of his head he says, “You are right; I apologize for any implication of poor ability on your part. With that attitude of yours, I’m sure you at least would not give up easily.”
She grumbles, but drops the topic. When he’s feeling better she’ll challenge him to a spar, she decides. She doesn’t want to admit that she doesn’t have the energy to be too indignant right now, so she addresses the first thing he’d said. “And I’m not—sick. Just a bit drunk.”

The life of a missing nin is lonely enough, and only worse when you're in love with a ghost. Over a year after tragedy and misunderstanding took both Itachi and Sasuke from the world of the living, Kisame and Sakura pour their heartache into each other.

Summary
((Direct followup to Blood & Gold AND the continuation of the Three to the Infinite series. First author's note has some jumping off points for the series, or else just jump in blind and be prepared to roll with some REALLY weird concepts.))
An impossible and semi-literal deus ex machina grants Tommy an option he didn't believe was possible.
The place he finds himself in is absurd, annoying, too cheerful, and worst of all, helmed by someone unacceptably familiar to him.
The part of him that had once been shoved down and rejected, but is now released, agrees.
Their eyes are on different targets. Their concerns are not the same. Their bloody path of misplaced revenge meets unexpected roadblocks.
Another tragedy awaits them, in the end. But...perhaps this one is necessary. Perhaps this one is the foundation that is needed for the good of everyone.
Perhaps if it's said often enough, it will become the truth. Perhaps if the only choice is to move forward, there won't be the temptation to look back. Perhaps the door that slams shut just needs some time to act as a pressure cooker.
