Summary
Knowing how class systems and corporal punishment works, I find it hard to believe that Conor’s time with the Trunswicks didn't leave more... lasting damage. Also taking into consideration how truly awful Devin was to him, I'd say what we've got here is the perfect storm for loads and loads of ✨️trauma✨️
Title taken from Family Line by Conan Gray"“Worthy did that to you?” she asked, stunned.
Conor shook his head, rolling his eyes as his lip curled like he'd smelled something foul. “Oh, no,” he assured, tone dripping in sarcasm, “Devin would never stoop so low as to get his hands dirty with meaningless discipline.” His hands were clenched in the thin fiber of his shirt. “But he sure as hell wasn't low enough to not issue the orders.”"

In Heart Of The Land, does anyone else remember what Conor’s trauma response was? Because I sure do. It was an immense amount of anger and bitterness, kept all bottled up, never vocalized, just shoved down and ignored. Add that to the forced proximity to Worthy (aka, his abusive childhood tormentor) featured in the second series and what we’ve got here is a ticking, omnipresent, violently explosive timebomb in the form of one exhausted Euran teenager.Let's see how well that goes, shall we?
"The blond boy's battle axe was leveled dangerously close to the Redcloak’s neck as he spat, once more, “Do not touch me!”
“Shit,” Rollan breathed, rushing back down the path, with Abeke and Meilin hot on his heels.
“Please,” Worthy pleaded, his hands raised in surrender, slit eyes wide, “I just wanted to talk to you!”
The tip of Conor’s axe brushed the pale skin of Worthy’s throat as he growled, “And I want nothing from you.”"
