Summary
It's been 30 years since the events of Banana Fish unfolded, and Ash has managed to completely separate himself from his past, living as a writer on the shores of California.
Now he's written a memoir, and that memoir is being made into a movie, and the young actor playing the great Ash Lynx has asked for an interview.
This requires speaking of the past though, and as everyone knows, the past is a delicate thing, full of liquid memories just waiting to unfurl.

Summary
Alex is a somewhat disillusioned actor who finally lands the project of his dreams: a story that matters, directed by one of his idols, Rafael Luna. The only problem is that the screenwriter is Henry Fox, who can’t seem to stand Alex, and who Alex would love to shove into a cake. Neither of them expect the way working together will change both of their lives forever. Or, five times Henry Fox, screenwriter with the hottest script in town, talked about Alexander Claremont-Diaz, up-and-coming actor, and one time Alex talked about him right back.
“Up to the challenge?” Alex says, and then says it again, just in case Zahra missed it. “Up to the challenge?”
“It’s a perfectly normal quote, Alex, especially since you haven’t really met Henry Fox before,” Zahra says.
“Uh, we’ve met, Z,” Alex shoots back. “Or, I tried to meet him and congratulate him on his script like two years ago at that amfAR benefit and he looked at me like I was some sort of unwanted sentient mud and walked away, remember?”

“What?” he asks.
“It got you to talk to me,” Henry replies, voice quiet. “That’s been the best part of it.”Dad—I’m also so grateful to you, because you looked at the first play I wrote, age five, and gamely accepted the fact that I gave you the role of a tree. You’re always here with me.”
Laughter, interspersed with some teary eyes—Arthur Fox looms large.
“Finally, I want to thank one very, very special person who helped make my hard days easier in ways small and enormous: from my favorite drink, to daring to know all of me. I’m sorry for letting the hard days win. I love you and I miss you, darling.”Alex pauses, takes a deep breath.
“Last, but certainly not least, I need to thank Henry Fox. Thank you for your words, thank you for your soul, thank you for taking a chance on us, and thank you for being my favorite part of every day. Words are your thing, not mine, so I’ll steal some from your favorite author: if I loved you any less, I’d be able to talk about it more.”“Alex, Alex—is it serious, with you and Henry Fox?”
Alex raises his eyebrows, grins. “I mean, I don’t pull out Jane Austen just for anyone.” -

Summary
If you could have anything in the world, anything at all, what would it be?
Alexander Claremont-Diaz has clawed his way into Hollywood despite all the hurdles in his way, and now he's starring in his dream movie—a queer romcom adapted from one of his favorite books, Roses, Wisteria, and Royal Bluebells. However, he barely has the chance to be excited before he finds out who his costar is. The privileged, white, bigoted Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor.
The last thing Alex wants is to be associated with Henry more than he already has to, but a fateful interview and a few choice words against Henry turns him into enemy number one in Hollywood. To fix it, he has to pretend to be Henry's best friend and show the entire world his comments were nothing but friendly banter. However, as he gets inevitably tangled up in Henry's life, he realizes not everything is as it seems, and Henry might be hiding his own demons that might change everything.

Alex grabs Henry’s hand and presses it against his cheek before he leans in, their lips meeting in the middle. It feels like a promise for a future and a death sentence at once.
He cups Henry’s cheeks and offers him a smile that he hopes looks real. “I’m good, baby.” With you here. “Okay? Don’t you worry your pretty little mind.”
“Did you just quote Taylor Swift to me?”
Alex grins. “Maybe.” He tugs Henry down so he can press a kiss to Henry’s forehead. “Your mind,” he murmurs, and then moves down. Another kiss to Henry’s lips. “Or your nose.” A giggle escapes Henry’s lips but he doesn’t try to push Alex away.Zahra looks deeply, utterly tired. “Hundreds of people,” she says, though there’s no anger in her voice. “Hundreds of fucking people would die to be with you. And you had to pick the one closeted prince of Hollywood.”
Alex barks out a laugh, even as a blush dusts Henry’s cheeks. “Well, he was very charming,” he argues with a wink to Henry. The blush deepens to a pretty red color.

Bookmarker's Notes
He opens the book, starting from the beginning for the first time in ages—every time he’s looked at this over the last few weeks he’s been skipping to one section or another, thinking about a particular scene—before his eyes land on a note that he absolutely did not write at the top of the page, above the words ‘ACT I’. It’s not his handwriting; it’s a fancy, looping script that could only possibly belong to one person, and Alex’s pulse is thundering in his ears, drowning everything else out.
It’s here.
Which… what the actual, literal fuck does that mean?
And also, when did Henry write this? When did he have his hands on Alex’s copy?
And did he mention what the fuck does it mean?
He starts thumbing through the pages, cursing his own heavy annotation style as he scans line after line, trying to find something else in Henry’s handwriting. He’s so fucking sure this is the piece he’s missing; the piece that will make everything that’s happened over the last few days make sense.
When he gets to the end of Act II he backtracks, convinced he’s missed something in the swarm of his own notes, but there’s nothing. He forces himself to continue through Act III, and he’s just starting to convince himself that he’s on some cosmic fucking joke of a wild goose chase that he finally sees, well into Act IV, an annotation that isn’t his own.
Alex had underlined the part where Beatrice says “I will weep a while longer” and Benedick replies “I will not desire that”. In the margins, his own heavy scrawl:
Pretty sure this is where Benedick falls in love for real.
And underneath that half-joking note, in that same beautiful calligraphy that caught Alex’s eye at the start of the book:
No, it’s not here. -
