Percy bit his tongue. A few seconds dragged by. He removed his teeth from his tongue. “This is dangerous.”
Aletheia’s shoulders shook. She didn’t let out any laughter though. “Your life has been dangerous since you were born.”
“I wasn’t talking about me,” Percy blurted out. “There are things the gods wouldn’t want me just spilling out.”
They had been asking about Bessie’s whereabouts.
“But that’s the beauty of it. Even now, you find ways to keep information to yourself. It’s a delight to watch how you refuse to let things be pried out from you.”
“So you don’t have a quest I could-“
She interrupted him. “I never said that.”
