“Massachusetts is too expensive. Can’t have us getting too big of an ego.” Louis says, looking forward again.
Harry laughs, “Have you met a chess player before?”
Louis can feel the other man’s eyes on him, sizing him up. He stands stoically, not taking his eyes off the other opponents sitting at the boards. The last thing Louis wants is for this guy to think he doesn’t have a poker face.
“You know, in Moscow, chess players are famous.”
Louis laughs. “I just did a photoshoot with Yves Saint Laurent, some of us are famous.”
The man huffs bumping Louis in the shoulder, presumably in an attempt to get Louis to look at him. It works. “And I’m a published author, but we aren’t even on their level. You should see the places they get to play. It’s certainly not some crappy lecture hall.” He looks judgingly up at the ceiling where paint is clearly starting to chip off.
“Oh, I’ll see them.” Louis says.
