The morning light poured through the high windows of Troubadour Guild, turning the halls into a vibrant amber. The chatter of dozens of Pokemon echoed off the stone walls, as it always did. But today felt different somehow. Teams gathered together, preparing for assignments before the day's departures.
Momma had always told Rusty the guild had a heartbeat of its own. Today, he could finally feel it for himself. He stood near the job board, flame flickering bright across his back, the air around him warmed with a nervous energy he couldn't hide. His pack rested nearly against the wall beside him. It was new, shiny, and filled with supplies he'd gathered himself on practice missions with Dinah and Belle.
And finally, he'd be able to collect his badge from Momma, and officially recruit for his team.

Out of every dungeon that had showed up in the region in the past years, Starlight Caverns was the most mysterious. It had shown up out of the blue, a sinkhole at the base of a distant mountain, walls lined with glittering stone.
It seemed that many Pokemon who stepped foot inside that weren't under the protection of a Guild Badge would lose their minds, wandering the ever shifting halls until they were either rescued or ended up on a missing poster.
Out of every dungeon, this was the one she needed to solve the mystery of the most.

Unfortunately for a little Eevee with messy green fur named Izuku Midoriya, he was part of the 20% who didn’t.

Julian Rook stared up at the Viator Guild, unsure of how to get there, when the guild was on the top of a steep hill and there wasn't any obvious paths up to the guild.
Seeing the skies fill with flying types, Julian had a moment of doubt, wondering if he would be a good fit for the guild after all, considering he wasn't a flying type and he certainly didn't have any wings.
As he tried to figure out a possible path to the guild's building, he caught sight of a ladder that was hanging from the main entrance and that just barely reached the ground. Feeling as though this was his only possible path, Julian ran to the ladder leading up to the guild and started to climb.
The air hadn't been warmed by the sun just yet, and Julian's soft fur wasn't enough this time to keep the biting cold out. Halfway through the climb, he noticed that he had a small audience of flying types from the guild, who were watching him with polite curiosity, possibly wondering what a buneary was doing climbing the ladder to the Viator Guild.
Well, whatever. It wasn't their business. Why else would he be climbing the ladder to the guild?
… Maybe that was a bit too mean.
