In 1994, British Railways was privatised by the government. As a result, the Other Railway was carved up and sold to various companies. Not wanting to be left out, The Fat Controller decided to buy the Furness Line between Barrow and Lancaster, extending the Mainline all the way to the WCML. As part of the deal, the Fat Controller bought two diesels and a HST – and you’ll never guess who they were!
