Asgore got a call from Alphys.
It wasn't often that he got calls from her, not since the Determination experiments, and he was happy to hear from her...
...but he wasn't happy to hear what she had to say.
A human was in the underground.
That on its own was bad enough, but worse yet, they were killing people. They were killing many people.
Alphys sounded panicked. She said that Undyne was fighting the human as they spoke, and had told her to tell Asgore to absorb the human souls before she went off to fight.
...Absorb the human souls?
He... he couldn't do that.
For the sake of his people, he would if he had to, but it had to be an absolute last resort. He couldn't take such an action lightly.
Surely Undyne would take the human down before it came to that, right?... If not her, SOMEONE...
...But that didn't happen.
He kept getting sporadic updates from Alphys in the briefest moments that she had in the middle of her evacuation efforts.
First, it was Undyne was dead.
Then, it was the human had torn through Hotland.
Then the CORE.
Then Mettaton.
Asgore was running out of options.
