The smell of something delicious emanated from the kitchen, as it usually did. But so did the usual smells of the job, not the too-sweet decay, or the chemicals, or rotting cabbage, but the early decomposition, the generally more unpleasant smells the average living person has to deal with. Their mixture was worse than the too-sweet, later-stage decay.
He didn't need to psyche himself up before looking through the door. He'd had centuries to psyche himself up. He looked inside, to where the cats were padding across the counters, sniffing at a warm skillet and a half-drunk bottle of something orange. A familiar body was laying on the floor, and a familiar soul was standing above it.
Kravitz sighed, and let his skeletal form melt into flesh. "Really, hon, this couldn't have waited for the paperwork to be sent through?"

It’s not that she’s too hot or too cold, it’s not that she can’t get comfortable, it’s not even the recurring nightmares of being locked away in a black curtained room - it’s a lingering anxiety from years of staying in undesirable places among even more undesirable people. There is no rest in hiding. Even nowadays, enveloped in her husband’s arms, stability still feels like a stranger.
Tonight, though, something else wakes her.

Sigfriede Holly Taaco-Bluejeans was born into a symphony of noise. Pure, endless, joyful noise that only came from the people in her family who all loved her and thought the world of her. Perhaps they thought more than just the world of her, but that was none of her concern for now. Her concern lay more within herself and how the world treated her. The years she spent at home learning from her family never showed her a day of hate, never showed her a reason to know what hate meant. She would be shown reasons for anger, or even rage, but hate was not something this family stood for, and Sigfriede Holly Taaco-Bluejeans wanted to make sure hate was not something the world would stand for either.
A little blupjeans baby dumb idea that turned into a full fledged multi chapter plot line that my friends convinced me to publish. Special thanks to timeforlupsopinion on tumblr for the support of my dumb OC and beta-ing the fic for me!

Taako didn't know what the fuck to think when he woke up to find a crib just sitting in his caravan one morning. He sure as fuck didn't know what to think of the little half-elf kid sleeping inside of it. The note that was left didn't do much to answer his questions, instead just assuring him that this wasn't a permanent thing. Claiming that he'd only have to watch the kid for a few months. There was no name for who had left it, but apparently the kid was called Angus.
The letter ended up holding true, and Taako found himself thrust into a particularly strange part of his life. Every year or so Angus would show up, staying from anywhere from weeks to months at a time. Taako never heard who left him or who came to pick him up, and he should probably be more weirded out by that than he was.
Angus was a good kid though, so Taako wasn't going to complain that much.

“I’m going to be the fun uncle,” Taako says, not for the first time. “She’s going to love hanging out with me because it’ll always be so much fun, and I’m going to be her favourite.”
When Lilliana is born, obviously there’s not much Taako can do quite yet to earn the “Fun Uncle” title. But once she gets old enough for that title to actually go to someone… well… Taako doesn’t quite hit the mark, in all honesty.
Sure, maybe he’ll give her a cookie in the middle of the afternoon, or let her have a little more dessert than usual, but when push comes to shove, Taako’s a stickler for the rules set out for her. She only gets one or two special treats, no constant flow of cookies and candy and other goodies. No snacks past 7 o’clock, and she’s in bed by 7:30 sharp.
Lilliana adores her uncle Taako, but for all intents and purposes, he’s kind of like another parent who is maybe just a little more lenient with his cookie stash. Not quite fun uncle material.
