Three are having a very bad day. But they’re used to that by now.
Him, eyes itchy with tiredness, struggling to scribble down equations from the board as everyone around him flies through the work with ease.
Him, sat with a polite smile in the common room as his new classmates gossip and laugh and argue around him without so much as a glance his way.
And him, skulking around the back of the music block, hunched over in his too-small uniform as he shields a rolled cigarette from the wind and idly wishes for something, anything to change.
It’s still half an hour until lunchtime. Right now, that feels like the most any of them can hope for.Things are going to change. It starts with a strange encounter round the back of the music block.
