Like every morning, Myka Bering went out for a walk with her labrador Oscar. They would cross the busiest streets in town and enter the park, walk along the grassy pathways between the trees and just enjoy their free time. The grassy area around the lake in particular, was his favourite leisure spot, so he rushed towards his destination, helpless mistress in tow. Something seemed to have caught Oscar's attention, as he picked up speed and dashed off to the left, dragging Myka along. She slammed straight into an oncoming person, both of them tumbling to a heap on the ground.

This is based on the shooting in Orlando. Don't read it if you don't want to read about the shooting. I went back and forth on whether or not to post it.
You know, we all had our own responses to what happened in Orlando. This has been sitting on my phone since Sunday evening because this was my response.
I used some of our favorite leading ladies to express some of my thoughts and feelings. I'm sure our house was like many of yours. We took turns taking care of our two kiddos while we were glued to the television. We took a break to join our local community of compassionate Christians in prayer.
I've seen some beautiful memes and GIFs over the last few days. This is my simple fangirl contribution. I hope it doesn't come across as contrived or offensive. If it does, I sincerely apologize.

Helena's fears and apprehension over Mating with Myka manifest themselves courtesy of her demon H.G. in the form of a vivid nightmare. Helena reacts the way she generally does in a situation she has tremendous anxiety involving a loved one: she lets emotions cloud her judgement to the point of irrationality. Angel, who knows her better than anyone except perhaps Myka, is there to pick up the pieces and bring her back to rationality.
