Summary
In their youth, Charles would read from a collection of Edgar Allan Poe’s stories, and found that his newfound sister always fancied his narration of The Raven. It was oddly fitting: a tale of a lonely man who is visited by a raven in his time of need. It had been quite a while, of course, since Charles had recited that story, but he could recount every line from memory.
In other words, Charles will never understand Raven's insecurities, but he does his best to comfort her the very same way he did when they were children.

Charles Rowland thought nothing of saving a young Edwin Payne, except for Edwin giving him a treasured pendant; saying that it'd help him out of any trouble.
Five years later, he's looking at jail time. Meaning his mum and little sister would be left alone with his piece of shit dad and no one to look out for them. So, he turns in that favour.
He's not exactly sure how it ended in him doing a six month job interview to become a spy, but weirder things have happened. Probably. -
