Summary
Buck? Hey Buck. It’s me, it’s Eddie. I’m here, it’s OK. I got you” He reaches out, tentatively touching Bucks forearm, trying to let him know he’s there whilst being careful not to startle him. He’s not going to risk being on the receiving end of a hook from one of those huge arms, even if it is accidental.
Buck’s cries begin to subside at Eddie’s touch as he pulls Buck closer, holding the other man’s head against his chest, rocking back and forth like he’s done with Chris a hundred times. The sobs slowly ebb away to whimpers and then sharp ragged intakes of breath as Buck begins to come round from the nightmare.OR – When tragedy strikes the 118, Eddie and Chris return from Texas to take care of Buck. But just one word has the potential to change everything.

Summary
Eddie hears his phone ring. He was having dinner with Chris. He sees Buck's name flash across the screen. He smiles instantly. They had talked that morning before Buck's shift. But still. Eddie found himself missing his voice.
"Hey Buck! Me and Chris are just eating dinner now, what's up?" Silence.
"Buck?" He can hear him breathing on the other side. After a few moments of confusion, Eddie's face fills with concern as he hears Buck's muffled sobs through the phone.
"Buck? Hey are you okay?" He gets up from his seat, moving into the living room. Christopher looking at him, confusion fills his face.
"Eddie." He can just make out Buck's voice. His voice hoarse. Like he'd been crying for a while.
"Hey yea it's me. Are you okay? What's going on?" He hears Buck's cries more clearly now. Like he doesn't bother hiding it anymore.
"I'm so sorry Eddie. I- I tried. But I couldn't- I couldn't sa-" His voice gets cut off by another sob.
"Hey. It's okay just breathe." Eddie waits patiently. Waiting for Buck to calm his breathing down before speaking again.
Or Buck calls Eddie to tell him about Bobby's death, which leads him to meet him at the airport.

Summary
"You're not the only one that lost him. We all lost him." Eddie slowly backs away, and turns his back. But Buck wasn't done. He was furious. And he wanted Eddie to know it.
"So everyone's allowed to greive but me, is that right?" Eddie scoffs and looks back. Eyes blaring into Buck's blue ones.
"Excuse me?" Buck shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly, knowing it'll make Eddie more mad.
"That's what your saying right? I can't greive because everyone else is grieving. I have to be there for everyone else but I'm not allowed to feel sad about Bobby's death because I'm not the only one who lost him." This time Buck steps closer to Eddie. And Eddie can feel Buck's anger radiate off him.
"That's not what I was saying Buck. Don't put words in my mouth. You're allowed to feel sad about Bobby's death." Now it's Buck's turn to scoff.
"No but you see I can't. Not without making it all about me." Eddie rolls his eyes, and turns away. He just wants this to be over. It doesn't even feel real.
"You're being dramatic Buck." Buck just looks down, nodding his head, as tears fill his eyes. He's scared to let them fall. Scared Eddie will tell him he's making it about him again.

Summary
"Buck? What's going on?" Eddie steps closer, it's then that he notices the blood, and how pale his Captain looked. Putting two and two together he's by Buck's side in seconds.
"Cap?" Bobby shakes his head, telling him it's too late.
"Eddie! Eddie help me open this door, or go get a medical team down here." Eddie stares in shock, his eyes not leaving Bobby once.
"Buck no." Buck stands up in shock, not believing Bobby was just giving up.
"What do you mean no? You need help, they can help you." Buck presses his hands up against the glass, trying to get as close to Bobby as he could.
"They can't help me Buck. You know that. We just used the only cure." His eyes move to Eddie, watching the older boy stand in shock. He feels bad for leaving them, but there's nothing he can do.
"I'm proud of you Eddie. Don't forget that. But I have nothing left to teach you. It's been my pleasure to have been able to call you family." Once he knows Eddie understood him his eyes move back to Buck. He doesn't want the kid to see him like this. His kid. To watch him die. He knows this next part will be hard on all of them.

Summary
It was late in the night. Buck couldn't sleep. Truth is, he hadn't been able to sleep that well since Bobby died. It had been a month and Buck felt like he was going crazy. He doesn't know how he's gonna go the rest of his life without him. Anytime the grief gets too much, and he feels overwhelmed, he calls Bobby. He knows he won't answer. But he leaves a voicemail. It's the only way Buck would be able to hear his voice. So twice a week, late at night, he calls Bobby. Just needing to hear his voice, to keep him sane.

Summary
Three hundred and seventeen
This morning marks three hundred and seventeen days since Eddie last woke up beside someone.
Three hundred and seventeen mornings in a bed that only he sleeps in.
Three hundred and seventeen nights without the soft tug-of-war over the blanket, without the startled jolt of cold feet brushing against his legs in the middle of the night.
Three hundred and seventeen days without the comforting presence of another body breathing beside him in the dark.In the grand scheme of a lifetime, three hundred and seventeen days isn’t much. Just a notch on a calendar.
He’s never been great with numbers, but he knows this much: it’s not supposed to feel like a lifetime.
And yet—it already does.Eddie's falling apart with his lack of sleep, but obviously, Buck ain't gonna let that happen.

"What are you laughing about?" He shakes his head, amazed that Buck can find something to laugh about at a time like this. He reminds him so much of Christopher.
"One hell of a last call am I right?" This takes the smile off of Eddie's face.
"Hey no. This isn't your last call. You are making it out of here alive Buck, okay we both are." Buck snorts and shakes his head. He can feel the adrenaline leave his body.
"I was talking about with the 118. But who knows? Maybe I'll pay Bobby a little visit in the afterlife." Eddie shakes his head, he refuses to let Buck die. He promised Chris he'd save him. And that's what he plans on doing.
"Don't talk like that. You're gonna be fine. You just need to hang on okay? Help is coming." Buck feels his body grow cold, his head nodding to the side.
