It wasn’t anything heavy. Just a link to an old dev blog they both used to write on, where he had replied to a stupid fiction called "telamon bonus." with the message: “Remember this one? Still cracks me up.”
Nostalgic. Stupid.
Shedletsky replied a few hours later with a simple, “Haha, wow. Forgot that even existed.”
But it was enough.
Builderman stared at the reply for far too long, rereading the words like they might rearrange themselves into something deeper. A hidden signal. A breadcrumb. Something. He typed out three possible responses before deleting all of them. He didn’t want to push yet.
The next day, he was already outside the café before it opened. He wasn’t planning to go in, just… keeping a lookout. Just in case.
He was rewarded.
