Summary

The two of you never really got along great, but it all comes to a head when your dad and May move out of the city, forcing you to live with Peter while you attend your sophomore year at ESU.

“What?” I said as I stared up at him from the couch.“Come down to the grad lab and sign up for a trial,” he repeated over his cup of coffee. “We got one on sleep meds right now and it pays seventy-five big ones. Up front too.”
“You’re joking.” I narrowed my eyes for good measure so he knew I was extra skeptical.
“It’s not an overnight one either. Well, not one where you’d have to stay at the lab for it anyway,” he continued his pitch. “You just gotta take a pill before bed and answer some questions in the morning. It’s a two week trial.” He shrugged.
I was sure I’d regret signing up for it, and fucking BOY HOWDY, did I ever!

“It’ll be a two for one experiment,” he joked as he tried to force me through the doorway of his bedroom, but I braced myself against the door frame with both hands.I was not going in there. Especially not after the word experiment.
“What do you mean experiment?! Peter, stop!”
“Jesus, you’re obnoxious. Move your hands,” he grabbed both my arms and trapped them across my chest while he picked me up like I weighed nothing and closed the door behind him with his foot. I heard the electronic lock set back in place. Then he dropped me and walked over to his desk. “Where’d I put it,” he muttered to himself while he dug through his desk drawers.
“Peter, I’m sorry. I really sorry, okay?” I tried again. “You’re really freaking me out right now, please…”
He let an ‘ah-ha’ before he turned back towards me. “Found it,” he said.
My legs gave out from under me when I saw the syringe in his hand filled with a brown syrupy-looking fluid.
