Charles stepped on his tip-toes over the railing, his thick brown locks shielding him from the sun as his hair fell all over his face and he shook his head just as the cars zipped by fast, not quick enough to see him when he crossed the finish line.
He had missed prodigy Carlos Sainz Jr. winning on his turf. He had spent months, all of last year, staying up to speed about who’s who in most relevant categories of motorsport and the one time he gets to see what this guy’s all about, he missed it.
