The smell of fresh paint was the scent of tombs, of locked rooms and barred windows, the smell of must and decay that circled the passengers, wrapping around them like heavy chains. The sleek, iron body a coffin that ferried people to much darker places, trapping people in a space where they couldn't move, couldn't possibly escape as they were pushed ever closer to the abyss.
For He Yu, the Titanic is a bridge. One he can use to escape his past, his family, to crawl his way into the light where it is safe and bide his time until he can swoop back into the dark for revenge.
