Lexa Woods has been working hard, really hard to be where she is professionally, but that meant saying no to relationships.
Now that her foster sister is getting married, a lot of feelings begin to surface again. Feelings of want and need for someone to share a life with her.
But Lexa is a disaster when it comes to women. Lexa lacks the courage to open up and be vulnerable with the girl who occupies her current thoughts, and so she gives up.
At least, until a strange woman comes with a gift. A gift to wish for something with all her heart. Whatever that means.
Lexa makes her wish and what she finds the next day in her apartment, will change her life forever.

Summary
Once Lexa moved in, there was talk in the local pubs. She’d moved into one of the nicest houses in the village that had cost a pretty penny, so many villagers were expecting the newcomer to be not one woman, but either a young couple or a family. When a singular young woman arrived, it raised a few eyebrows. Lexa had two next-door neighbours either side of her detached house. One was an elderly couple with grown-up children around the same age as herself, and the other house was home to a married couple and their young child. Neither had spoken to the woman. It was rumoured that she was hardly ever home, especially Mondays to Fridays. She would depart between half-past seven and eight in the morning and only return after four-thirty. On the weekends, she seemed to return home from shopping at half-past eight in the morning and after that, she wasn’t seen. There was a whole mystery around her, and it was making some townspeople uncomfortable.

Summary
“Octavia, um, I still don’t have a partner and neither does Anya,” Lexa began. Octavia looked at her, a mischievous smile on her face. It was true. Everyone else was partnered, except the two sisters, and there was a reason for that. Before Octavia could offer her a reply, the front door bashed open again, letting in a gust of wind. Lexa didn’t even have to turn her attention towards the door, already knowing who was there based on the raucous laughter and loud voices. Obviously, it was Octavia’s best friends, Clarke and Raven. They’d met a handful of times, and each time, Lexa felt more infuriated with them – especially the blonde. They were loud, extroverted, and loved jokes and pranks. Lexa was quite the opposite. She let out an exasperated sigh before turning towards the newcomers. She at least had to be pleasant. However, she felt her stomach drop as she laid eyes on the two women. This couldn’t be happening…

Summary
“That’s just my name though,” said Lexa. “There’s much more you could know about me.”
“I don’t want to know anything about you,” snarled Clarke, pulling back her arm to stake Lexa through the heart. Just as she did, Lexa grabbed her attacking wrist and spun them both around so that Clarke was the one pressed against the crypt wall.
“Well,” Lexa said softly, “I’d like to know more about you.”

Summary
She took a few steps towards the dining chair where she’d left her jacket. She was delaying. Lexa knew it and so did Clarke. She picked off a non-existent piece of lint before brushing down the shoulders and picking it up. For a minute, Clarke was convinced that Lexa would then pull it over her in slow motion just to delay leaving even longer. However, the brunette just stopped what she was doing and looked back at Clarke, seemingly debating something in her head. She opened and closed her mouth a few times before she said, “Well, I mean, I could always stay. You know, just then you’re not here on your own for your first ni—”
“Yeah that’s probably a good idea,” Clarke interrupted, nodding vehemently.
“Yeah, just to be on the safe side,” Lexa continued.
“Definitely. Besides, it saves you making the journey home so late,” Clarke added. Lexa found herself not even listening to the justifications anymore and simply agreeing with whatever either of them were saying.OR

Summary
She took a breath before continuing, “I’m never going to get another jumper.” At the last word, she crumbled, but Lexa was there to catch her. She collapsed into her chest, each sob wracking her body and making her shake. Lexa’s fingers tangled into her blonde hair, stroking and soothing her as she cried. Lexa knew that her words would make very little difference. Nothing she said could bring Clarke’s grandmother back. Nothing she said could help Clarke with her grieving. All she could do was be there for her. But Clarke’s words stuck in her head. What made the blonde close to her grandmother were those jumpers she knitted every year without fail. If she didn’t receive one in the next week or so, it would just add to her grief. Lexa wracked her brain for what to do. She was a Ravenclaw. Surely, she could think of some solution. Then, it hit her. She made a mental note as she held Clarke impossibly close. It was time she learned how to knit.

Summary
“I’m sorry, O, I just don’t think ‘ritualistic candles’ exist,” Clarke said with a sigh.
“I’m afraid you’re mistaken,” came that same voice from downstairs that now caused Clarke to stumble backwards in shock. Thankfully, she managed to not bump into any shelves, clutching her chest as she regained her composure.
“Jesus, how do you keep doing that?” Clarke asked. Once again, the woman had managed to sidestep all the creaking floorboards and appear almost directly behind Clarke without her even noticing. Clarke could only assume that she knew the floors so well, she knew exactly which ones to avoid then she wouldn’t make any noise. There was no other explanation…unless she was able to just appear right next to Clarke. No, that was nonsense. Clarke wasn’t as naïve as Octavia; witches weren’t real.

Summary
Clarke was looking directly at her as Abby introduced the new menu, rhyming off all the pumpkin spice beverages, and the blonde gave an eyeroll. Lexa had to stifle a laugh. Although they’d worked together nearly every Thursday for three years, the girls wouldn’t describe themselves as friends, but one thing they bonded over was their shared hatred of pumpkin spice drinks, and this year, Lexa was hoping to turn this passion into a game.
“How do you feel about bets, Clarke?” the brunette asked, sidling up to her colleague as they wiped down the front counter. Clarke raised an inquisitive eyebrow and Lexa knew she’d piqued her interest. If there was something she’d learned about Clarke in all their years, it was that she was competitive.
