Summary
Conrad has been dreaming about Devon. Before knowing him.
Devon is in his house. Making him breakfast. Kissing him. And he's leaving for work with a smile that breaks Conrad's heart every single time. Because Devon will be in an ambulance not long after.

Summary
Leaning against white pillows set high, with an IV bag, his father stared at him long and hard. Conrad had come closer, ready to check on him, when he finally noticed they were not alone.
The man standing by the corner of the small room seemed to be checking something on a tablet. If there was really something important there or he was just giving Conrad and his dad the illusion of privacy, Conrad couldn't tell. He just noticed the stethoscope, the white coat and a henna tattoo around the man’s neck.
“You didn't have to run.” Marshall was speaking without breaking eye contact with him. “Nic was kind enough to ask for a… nurse to check me.”
He heard the man next to them sigh loudly. He was clearly a doctor, not a nurse, but Conrad knew well why his father was speaking like that.
He was a sub.

“Here goes a little advice, from resident to intern:” Conrad spoke, after clearing his throat. “Be careful with patients like him.”
Devon’s eyes widened.
“What?”
But Conrad scoffed. “He was flirting, Pravesh. Don't indulge.”

Summary
Waking up after a deep sleep always felt good. So Conrad opened his eyes, slowly. There was a pressure on his hand, something almost foreign, but warm, perfectly warm. And a man, right next to him, holding it.
“Hey, you.” The voice matched the man perfectly, somehow.
“Me?” Conrad's voice was broken, unused. Him? Why was this gorgeous man talking to him like that?
There was a flush on his face and Conrad heard the woman from before laughing. Was he saying that out loud?
“Yes.” Mina answered. “See, I told you it would be priceless.”

Summary
“He was mean to you.” Devon closed his eyes at his daughter's words. “Papa… why was he mean to you?”
A pile of books sat in his and Conrad's room – all books on childcare they read throughout Nic’s pregnancy and Georgianna's birth. They wanted to be prepared for it all, as best as they could, learning what kinds of food they could give, the ideal way to put her to sleep and how to teach her all the little things she needed.
None of those books told him how to explain racism to his own daughter.
